Today, we were invited by Edelrid to the ‘Vertical Tour’ event in Belgium. Host Hike-a-Way, distributor of Edelrid, had invited its Belgian and Dutch relations to come to Namur for a day full of information, hands-on workshops, and demonstrations. Upon arrival at this special and beautiful location, we were welcomed by the Hike-a-Way team: Steven, Philippe, Sien, and Frederic.
The first part of the program consisted of a ‘walk through the Edelrid safety collection’. Philippe showcased the innovative products Megawatt, Fuse, Kaa, Pinch (did you know that Pinch is certified for the industry?) and the Switch.
There was also attention for the productgroup that has been at the foundation of Edelrid and in which the brand is responsible for several important innovations, namely the rope assortment.
Finally, the harnesses Flex, Vector and Vertic were discussed in detail, each with its own applications and possibilities.
After a well-catered lunch, we were treated to an impressive demonstration by the GRIMP TEAM NAGE. This team, part of the fire department, specializes in search and rescue operations in hazardous environments.
Just back from a competition in China, they demonstrated various rescue operations where a victim needed to be secured. The GRIMP team uses Edelrid products, which perfectly matched the presentations we had seen earlier in the day. Ultimately, there is nothing better than seeing products like Megawatt, Fuse, and Kaa actually used by the specialists.
